Role Summary

The Payroll Operations Manager will oversee our global payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across multiple regions. You will lead a team of payroll specialists and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline systems, implement best practices, and support Deel's scaling efforts.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage a team of payroll specialists, providing direction and support for timely and accurate payroll processing.
  2. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other teams to ensure data accuracy and proper payroll-related accounting.
  3. Develop and enforce payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulations.
  4. Monitor payroll data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing process enhancements.
  5. Deliver payroll training and communications organization-wide.
  6. Serve as a subject matter expert, offering guidance on payroll-related issues.
  7. Manage relationships with external vendors and tax authorities for reporting and payments.
  8. Oversee team performance and development, providing coaching and feedback.
  9. Work with leadership to develop payroll strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  2. At least 5 years of payroll management experience, with a solid understanding of global payroll operations.
  3. Minimum 2 years managing a payroll team, including mentoring and performance management.
  4. Deep knowledge of payroll compliance, tax laws, and employment regulations across multiple countries.
  5. Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday).
  6. Strong analytical skills, payroll reporting, and reconciliation experience.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  8. High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  9. Ability to handle sensitive data confidentially.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills for resolving payroll discrepancies.
