Job summary

PG&E is seeking a Construction Specialist, Expert for the Paving Contract Management Group to provide field oversight, technical support, and quality control for paving and hardscape restoration across the service territory. You will validate restoration quantities, field conditions, and scopes of work while monitoring contractor performance and safety.

This hybrid role requires frequent travel (approximately 75%), working from a remote office and your assigned work location within the PG&E

Qualifications

• Requires 5 years of construction experience in underground, gas, or sewer capacity.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and travel throughout the assigned work area.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel up to 75% with occasional overnight stays.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, permits, paving scopes, or agency standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform field reviews to verify safety, quality, workmanship, and compliance with standards and permit requirements.
• Validate restoration quantities, field conditions, and scopes of work to support contractor billing and cost control.
• Document field observations, progress, deficiencies, safety concerns, and restoration status using established tools.
• Coordinate with Construction Managers, field crews, contractors, city/county representatives, and internal stakeholders to resolve scope, schedule, and closeout issues.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide timely feedback on safety, productivity, and adherence to requirements.
• Support permit and project closeout by confirming restoration completion and required documentation.
• Escalate safety, quality, and schedule concerns when alignment cannot be achieved at field level.
• Use field data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
