Job Summary


This position acts as the public relations representative of the Center’s Dental Program. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Patient Service Representative (PSR) confers with incoming and outgoing patients/visitors, assisting them as needed. The PSR directs patients/visitors within the office, interacts courteously and respectfully, and manages incoming calls, taking messages and routing them appropriately. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with NHFHS policies and procedures.


DUTIES PERFORMED

  1. Wear the designated uniform authorized by the organization.
  2. Handle all incoming telephone calls, transfer calls, take messages accurately, and forward them timely.
  3. Maintain daily patient appointment scheduling, make reminder calls, and retrieve medical records as needed.
  4. Greet patients and visitors courteously and respectfully.
  5. Register and/or update patient demographic information into the system daily.
  6. Assemble dental charts per NHFHS guidelines.
  7. Identify medical reports and inform the Dentist.
  8. Analyze charts for correctness and assembly.
  9. Note documentation issues and route to the appropriate Dentist.
  10. Maintain neat and organized filing areas.
  11. Keep a record of lost and found property on grounds.
  12. Accept and route patient-related information from various sources.
  13. Monitor and distribute incoming FAX transmittals.
  14. Respond to dentist requests for reports promptly.
  15. Assist with scheduling referrals, procedures, and other appointments.
  16. Collect and enter patient payments daily.
  17. Report suspicious activity to management.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of PHI and other sensitive information.
  19. Participate in compliance and organizational improvement activities.
  20. Follow work schedule, including breaks and lunch.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent minimum.

Experience

Preferably two years in a medical/dental office or related role.
