AXA Emerging Customers is the AXA Group’s Inclusive Insurance business with social impact. Our purpose is to make insurance is accessible, affordable and relevant to 4bn low income to mass market customers across the world who remain vulnerable to unforeseen events.
Launched in 2016, AXA Emerging Customers started with a focus on inclusive insurance for the emerging middle class across Asia, Africa and Latin America. The specific protection needs of these customers led us to reinvent insurance by simplifying products, adapting our technology stack, and building innovative partnerships to better serve our clients. Since 2020, we expanded our mission to encompass the protection needs of lower-middle class customers in France and Europe.
AXA Emerging Customers consists of a dozen experts at the global level as well as dedicated local teams in each of the markets where we do business. At end-2022, this initiative protected over 10 million clients in fourteen countries (IN, ID, TH, PH, CN, EG, MO, SN, NI, TR, MX, CO, BR, FR) contributing to financial inclusion and sustainable development through a business approach.
The team is part of AXA’s head office, GIE AXA, which drives the Group's strategy and is responsible for managing international projects. Mission
AXA Emerging Customers is looking for a Partnerships, Regulatory Affairs & Entity Relationship Manager to join our global team and scale our inclusive insurance programs. The role, based in Paris, is responsible for:
Steer existing and develop new partnerships with money transfers companies (notably in France, Morocco and Senegal) to provide inclusive insurance programs to migrant workers and their families ;
Scout other alternative partnerships, e.g. retailer networks, gig platforms, postal networks etc.: desk/field research in priority countries, commercial development, partnership management ;
Collaborate with think tanks in the financial inclusion space e.g. Accion’s Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI), the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (CENFRI), etc ;
Advance knowledge and debate through the steering of thought leadership projects e.g. with the AXA Research Fund, participation in dedicated events, etc ;
Positioning AXA in regulatory evolutions around financial inclusion and inclusive insurance :
Follow global policymaking around financial inclusion and inclusive insurance, notably from the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), G20 Global Principles for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), the World Bank’s Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), the European Union (notably social taxonomy), etc, and contribute to determining and advocating AXA’s positions ;
Track and influence national financial inclusion strategies and regulations impacting AXA Emerging Customers in key markets, with a particular focus on those aiming to set up standalone microinsurance or inclusive insurance licenses ;
Work with AXA Group’s Public Affairs team and local AXA EC teams with regard to the above.
A XA Emerging Customers is structured with a global team of subject matter experts at the service of the local market AXA entities rolling out inclusive insurance programs. On top of their transversal area of expertise, central team members also have a role as entity relationship manager for at least one market, meaning they are responsible for the day-to-day interactions w/ the local teams of that market ;
ERMs agree on the local strategy and ambition with the relevant local AXA EC team, steer business opportunities and bring in other central team members to assist the team locally on specific issues (e.g. strategic market analysis, customer research, product design and pricing, distribution tie-up toolkits, marketing for this customer segment, value-added services beyond insurance, etc.);
This role would be ERM for at least one emerging market in the AXA Emerging Customers ecosystem, working closely with local teams to drive the inclusive insurance business and preparing quarterly calls with the AXA local entity CEO and the AXA EC CEO to review the inclusive insurance strategy.
Background and experience :
Background on inclusive insurance / financial inclusion / social impact topics ;
Demonstrated experience in designing, signing, and running partnerships ;
Appetite for going the field to meet end customers, experience running individual interviews, focus groups and other demand studies ;
Master’s Degree in business management or international development.
Soft skills and competencies :
Ability to deliver a project from start to end with a strong sense of the equilibrium to find between autonomy and team collaboration ;
Strong communications skills, able to present complex ideas clearly and concisely so as to obtain the buy-in of a multicultural audience at all levels of the organization ;
Fluent in English and French mandatory, other languages a plus.
