CNRS in France—Environnements et sociétés de l'orient ancien is seeking to develop and validate an alternative radiocarbon-dating method for lagoon-coastal environments based on ostracods to improve palaeoenvironmental age-depth models (MAPP).

The role involves sedimentological and ostracod analyses, coring campaigns supervision, sampling, dating preparations and dissemination of results, with site work at the Lyon-Villeurbanne and Ardèche field stations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of lagoon-coastal palaeoenvironments and port geoarchaeology.
• Taxonomic, ecological and biogeographical knowledge of ostracods (Cyprideis torosa).

Responsabilités

• Sedimentological and ostracodological analyses.
• Co-supervise coring campaigns and describe cores.
• Select and collect sediment samples; prepare material for dating.
