Your daily life

The Cannes site is responsible for the design of satellite systems and platforms, satellite assembly/integration/testing, and in-orbit operations. The site has expertise in optical instrumentation and avionics.

Job description

Within the AITCUO department (Assembly, Integration, and Testing of Optical Payloads), the electro-optical performance service has the following objectives: the adjustment and characterization of the performance of space optical instruments.

The main performances that must be measured on the ground, before launch into space, are:

  • the optical quality of various optical systems
  • Characterization of detectors and the image chain
  • Electrical testing of electronic equipment
  • The image quality of the instrument once its detectors are integrated

The measures implemented are varied (radiometry, interferometry, geometric measurements, spectral measurements, polarization, etc.), sometimes based on advanced digital processing.

The service’s activities to ensure these performances consist of:

  • Design ground adjustment and characterization methods, estimating the level of precision of the test methods
  • Supply and set up test benches, which are then validated experimentally
  • carry out ground tests on flight specimens and associated post-processing
  • draft the documentation relating to all these activities

As an optical engineer, you work in close collaboration with the other AIT CUO professions, in a context where the performance obtained through adjustment can only be achieved through work involving all the AIT professions (mechanical integration, optical adjustment, electrical, signal processing, detection).

You will be responsible for the study, definition, development and implementation of optical and performance tests which almost always use specific Ground Optical Means.

You will be responsible for the various tests:

  • From the choice of the most suitable method,
  • Uncertainty assessments associated with these tests,
  • From the specification and “brand” monitoring of the production of optical ground resources, at a subcontractor or internal production (measuring benches for example).
  • From writing recipe, adjustment and test procedures,

Your Profile

With a Bac + 5 qualification in optics / Space such as Institut d’Optique, ENSSAT, Master OSAE, Polytech, you have at least 3 years of experience in a similar field.

You have mastered the various skills required for the AIT of an optical instrument:

  • General knowledge of digital electronics
  • Knowledge of CMOS detector technologies
  • Signal processing/algorithm level skills
  • Scientific languages MATLAB, PYTHON, C, C++, SQL

and you have knowledge of space optronics.

You demonstrate initiative, autonomy and pragmatism in developing a design to AIT & design to Cost approach.
