Introduction & Summary : The Operational Security Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing the security posture of the organization’s IT infrastructure, specifically focusing on IBM Mainframe Z Series technology. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in IT security operations, with proven expertise in managing security for IBM Mainframe systems .

Main Responsibilities :

Conduct regular security assessments of the IBM Mainframe Z Series infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities.

Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with legal requirements.

Perform detailed assessments of security configurations across operating systems and infrastructure components.

Coordinate incident response and investigations related to security threats.

Provide specific security guidance and support for IBM Mainframe Z Series to internal teams.

Implement security controls for new systems and projects.

Contribute to IBM Mainframe Z Series-specific security awareness training.

Proactively identify security threats and recommend mitigations.

Stay updated on security threats related to IBM Mainframe Z Series and suggest improvements to security posture.

Key Requirements :

Proven expertise in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent.

Minimum of 8 years of IT security operations experience, specifically with IBM Mainframe Z Series .

Familiarity with IBM Mainframe security tools ( RACF, zSecure, Syslog, etc. ).

Knowledge of IBM Mainframe security standards (z / OS Security, RACF, zSecure).

Proficiency in SSO, Active Directory, LDAP, PKI , and digital certificates.

Understanding of IBM Mainframe-specific network protocols and operating systems.

Nice to Have :

USS expertise is highly desired.

Relevant security certifications such as IBM Certified Administrator - Security z / OS.
