An established research institution is seeking a dedicated engineer to join their Molecular Mechanism of Chromosome Dynamics group. Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a Hospital group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness. The objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
Laboratory
The engineer will work in the Molecular Mechanism of Chromosome Dynamics group headed by Daniele Fachinetti ().
The project
The selected candidate will study the causes and consequences of centromere aberrations in cancer using interdisciplinary approaches in cell and cancer cell models. The selected candidate will work together with members of the Fachinetti group to elucidate the repair mechanisms acting at broken centromeres. One of the tasks will be to develop novel imaging approaches to detect chromosome translocations.
Activity description
Training and Skills required
Candidates must hold an engineering degree or a master's degree in biology. Previous expertise in microscopy, in the usage of tissue culture models and molecular biology are recommended. Professional English level is required.

Contract information
Type of contract : Fixed-term contract.
Starting date : From July / September.
Duration : 18 months renewable
Working time : full time
Remuneration : according to the current grids
