Offer Description

The goal is to design an experimental setup for the characterization of nucleate boiling in a vessel under the influence of a high-intensity magnetic field. This setup will be designed to operate within the high-field magnets of the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI-Grenoble). The apparatus will include a thermal control system, a substrate generating vapor bubbles primarily made of a copper alloy, a thermal and optical measurement system, and a cavity enabling one-dimensional heat flow, which will be optically transparent to allow high-speed imaging.

Design an experimental device adapted to the magnetic environment and scientific objectives of the SURFMET project.
Interact with the engineering department for the design part and the workshop for the realization part.
Test the device's performance in and out of the magnetic field.
Participate in the publication of results (annual report and publications).

The Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI), located across two sites (Toulouse and Grenoble), is a CNRS laboratory (UPR3228) and a Très Grand Instrument de Recherche (TGIR). It is affiliated with INSA Toulouse, Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), and Université Paul Sabatier (UPS, Toulouse).
The LNCMI enables researchers to conduct experiments in some of the most intense magnetic fields in the world. Continuous magnetic fields up to 37 T are available at the Grenoble site.

Collaborative Framework :This work is part of a collaboration between the SIMAP laboratory (Grenoble), MATIM (Reims), and LNCMI (Grenoble) to control heat transfer under magnetic fields through surface functionalization obtained via magnetoelectrochemical deposition. This consortium operates within the framework of the ANR SURFMET project.
The recruited individual will be hired as a postdoctoral researcher and will work at LNCMI under the supervision of François DEBRAY (providing technical input and expertise in magnets and instrumentation), complemented by the co-supervision of Laurent DAVOUST from the SIMaP laboratory (providing technical input and expertise in thermal and optical instrumentation). This work is part of the ANR SURFMET project in collaboration with the MATIM laboratory at the University of Reims.

Technical Resources :The postdoctoral researcher will have access to LNCMI's technical resources for the realization of the setup (design office and mechanical workshop).

• PhD in thermal sciences or fluid mechanics.
• Skills in optics, thermal sciences, and physical instrumentation.
• Strong interest in team work.
