We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Senior Grade Occupational Therapist to join our team based at our Children\'s Disability Network Team West Kerry, Oakview Village, Tralee, Co Kerry.

Contract Type: Permanent contract.

Salary Scale:€57,771 - €68,385 pro rata per annum.

This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.

The Role

Overall Purpose of the Post

Services (PDS) model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability. As a Lead Agency within this model, Enable Ireland has responsibility for the delivery of services to children assigned to Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) within designated network areas. Services are provided in accordance with legislative and service delivery frameworks and requirements, within the resources allocated. As a senior member of the interdisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy services, including assessment and intervention to children and adolescents enrolled on the CDNT. Services will be provided across a variety of settings including the clinic, schools, preschools and special schools, children’s homes and community settings.

Duties
  • Planning & Managing
    • To plan and organise individual and group caseloads, and provide a range of occupational therapy services to include assessment, diagnosis and needs based interventions to children with complex needs.
    • Services may be delivered across a range of settings including but not limited to clinic, home, education (including special educational placements) and community settings. Under the tiered model, this may include direct and indirect support to families as well as key contact and other duties.
    • To foresee potential challenges or competing priorities and take appropriate action to ensure service standards are maintained.
    • To foster an awareness of the need for value for money and a sense of accountability for budgets within the team/service.
    • To take responsibility for the achievement of service delivery targets by regularly monitoring, recording and reporting performance outcomes and statistics.
    • To demonstrate innovation in aiming to work within resource limitations to sustain and enhance the service.
    • To take responsibility for the clinical supervision of occupational therapists within the team/service as required.
    • To identify the needs of and manage the overall caseload of the occupational therapy team.
    • To participate in relevant clinical and team meetings as deemed appropriate by CDNM and represent the CDNT and/or Lead Agency at meetings and fora as designated.
    • To maintain appropriate service user records and statistics in accordance with Enable Ireland requirements and local guidelines, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant legislation.
    • This job description is not exhaustive; the post holder may be required to carry out other duties as requested by the Children’s Disability Network Manager/Childrens Services Manager/Kerry Director of Services.
Professional Qualifications
  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU
  • Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU
  • On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU
  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland
  • Experience supervising Occupational Therapy Students and/or Occupational Therapy Assistants.
  • Have a valid full driving licence and access to own transport.
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working
  • Relevant postgraduate training specific to children with disabilities (0-18 years)
