Job summary

Talascend currently seeks an Energy Plant Operator for a contract-to-hire role in Andover, MA. The operator will run high‑pressure boilers, steam turbines, and cogeneration equipment, ensuring uptime and regulatory compliance around the clock.

The role requires a licensed engineer with substantial energy-plant experience, strong IT skills (MS Office and CMMS), and a proven track record in safety and customer service. This position is onsite and night shift oriented.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Licensed operator (3rd Class engineer) with a path toward higher licensure.
• Pursue a 2nd Class Engineer's License per schedule.
• Senior Operator: 10+ years in a Pfizer-like plant with a 2nd Class License.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in energy plant related systems.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
• Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
• Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with ES&H programs and procedures.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain high-pressure boilers and steam systems.
• Operate site steam turbines and cogeneration equipment for reliability and efficiency.
• Monitor water chemistry and safety compliance per site plan.
• Operate control room for 24/7 response to alarms (backup support available).
• Monitor building automation and utility systems for proper operation.
• Document and record all activity and generate incident reports.
• Coordinate with CEP Chief Engineer and subcontractors as needed.
