Job description: MM6 Menswear Designer - Freelance
Under the instructions of the Creative Director, the MM6 Menswear Designer works closely with the Head Designer. He/She contributes to the design, creative development, and execution of the MM6 collections. They will work in line with agreed-upon seasonal creative concepts, objectives, collection planning, and adhere to the work flow calendar.
Responsibilities:
- Work across multiple Menswear product categories;
- Support seasonal collections (Show and Pre Collections);
- Participate in defining creative concepts, aligned with Brand DNA and market needs;
- Engage in the design process through research, reference images, 3D mock-ups, sketches, fabric and color research, sourcing vintage and other materials;
- Collaborate on prints, embroideries, trims, ensuring accurate selection and placement;
- Work with Product Developers in Italy to ensure execution aligns with the creative vision, maintaining quality and price points;
- Participate in technical fitting sessions to ensure product feasibility and that design intent is preserved during commercialization and industrialization;
- Contribute to lookbooks and shows, supporting styling and preparation, and assisting the Creative Director and design team;
- Participate in technical presentations for commercial purposes;
- Contribute to Brand Collaborations and Special Projects.
Qualifications:
- BA in Fashion Design or related field;
- Minimum of 2 years industry experience in RTW Design Studio, preferably in high fashion;
- Passionate, driven, flexible, creative, and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills;
- Team player with a collaborative mindset, understanding the importance of cohesion across categories and collections;
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficient in both creative and technical design aspects;
- Strong skills in 3D work, drawing, and rendering to communicate design intentions;
- Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Outlook;
- Strong technical knowledge, experience working with pattern cutters, attending fittings, and overseeing sample production;
- In-depth knowledge of the contemporary Ready-to-Wear market and MM6 brand positioning.
Languages:
- Fluent in English, spoken and written;
- French and Italian skills are a plus, especially for product development and sample production in Italy.
