An established industry player is seeking a talented MM6 Menswear Designer to join their creative team. Qualifications

Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Celebrating unconventional aesthetics and embracing the philosophy that fashion is an art of expression rather than a cult of personality, Maison Margiela offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry, and fragrance.
In 2002, the French house became part of OTB. Along with sister brands of the group, Maison Margiela continues pushing the boundaries of modern fashion while preserving its distinctive identity and heritage.

Job description: MM6 Menswear Designer - Freelance

Under the instructions of the Creative Director, the MM6 Menswear Designer works closely under the Head Designer. He/She contributes to the design, creative development, and execution of the MM6 collections. They will work in line with agreed-upon seasonal creative concepts, objectives, collection planning, and adhere to the work flow calendar.

Responsibilities:

  • Work across multiple Menswear product categories;
  • Support seasonal collections (Show and Pre Collections);
  • Participate in defining creative concepts aligned with Brand DNA and market needs;
  • Engage in the design process through in-depth research, reference images, 3D mock-ups, sketches, fabric and color research, sourcing vintage and other materials;
  • Collaborate on prints, embroideries, trims, ensuring accurate selection and placement;
  • Coordinate with Product Developers in Italy to ensure the realization of the design vision, maintaining quality and price points, and consistency with creative concepts;
  • Participate in technical fitting sessions, ensuring product feasibility and that design intent is maintained during commercialization and industrialization;
  • Assist in lookbook creation and show preparations, supporting styling and the creative team;
  • Contribute to technical presentations for commercial purposes;
  • Support Brand Collaborations and Special Projects.

Qualifications:

  • BA in Fashion Design or related field;
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience in RTW design, preferably in high fashion;
  • Versatile, passionate, driven, creative, perfectionist with good interpersonal skills;
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset, understanding the importance of cohesion across categories and collections;
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficient in both creative and technical design aspects;
  • Strong skills in 3D work, drawing, and rendering to communicate design ideas;
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Outlook;
  • Deep technical knowledge, experience working with pattern cutters, fittings, and sample realization;
  • Good understanding of the contemporary RTW market and MM6 brand positioning.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written;
  • French and Italian are a plus, especially for product development and sample production in Italy.
