Maison Margiela, founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela, is a Paris-based fashion house renowned for its unconventional aesthetics and philosophy that fashion is a form of artistic expression. The brand offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, the contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry, and fragrances.

In 2002, Maison Margiela became part of OTB Group, continuing to push the boundaries of modern fashion while maintaining its distinctive identity and heritage.

Within Maison Margiela, the Merchandising Department oversees the brand's strategy across two main areas:

  • Collection: Developing the strategic plan for all collections in close collaboration with the design and product development teams. This includes creating collection plans, analyzing performance and competition, and ensuring a balance between the brand's DNA and commercial objectives, including product assortment and pricing. Overall responsibility for margin management.
  • Retail: Managing retail purchase assortments globally and defining the selection of key orders. Ensuring that the strategies and guidelines set by headquarters are followed across all regions. Collecting quantitative and qualitative feedback on regional sell-in and sell-out performances. Analyzing sell-out performance data weekly, monthly, and seasonally.

Main responsibilities and activities include:

You will join the Collection Merchandising team and report directly to the RTW Merchandising Manager.

Collection:

  • Developing the seasonal Merchandising strategic plan, including briefs, collection structure, and benchmark analyses, and following up with the Studio & R&D teams.
  • Monitoring daily collection development stages to ensure merchandising requirements are met.
  • Overseeing margin strategy and positioning with support from the finance team.
  • Supporting all activities related to seasonal sales campaigns.
  • Providing end-of-season sell-in analysis to identify key improvement areas for the following season.
  • Analyzing collection performance and seasonal best-sellers across all categories.
  • Gathering regional showroom feedback.
  • Creating and updating daily collection tracking tools (databases, etc.).
  • Supporting all special projects.

In partnership with the Retail Merchandising team:

  • Defining the purchasing strategy with Central Merchandising teams and regional teams.
  • Determining the selection of main orders and the core offer.
  • Optimizing regional purchasing strategies to ensure assortment coherence.
  • Defining the global sales strategy and calendar with regional input.

Candidate profile:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Collection Merchandising within the fashion and/or luxury sector.
  • Knowledge of global trends and understanding of the Ready-to-Wear market.
  • Strong product sense and passion for the fashion and luxury universe.
  • Strong analytical skills (Excel mastery; Power BI is a plus).
  • Proactive with initiative-taking abilities to continuously improve the brand.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Languages: Fluent in English or French, spoken and written; Italian is a plus.
