Sovereign Lake is seeking a Lodge Supervisor to lead lodge staff coordination and volunteer engagement. You will work with the Operations Manager to recruit, train and supervise staff, manage scheduling, and resolve safety concerns in a fast-paced environment.

You will also oversee admin tasks, POS operations, guest services, and communications with volunteers and community members. The role requires excellent communication and organizational skills and availability through the holiday period.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of nordic skiing and ski area operations.
  • Experience with online registration systems and computer software platforms (POS, word processing, web and information management).
  • Ability to take direction, function independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, time management, team leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to function in a team environment and adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated strong organization, administrative and delegation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with diverse community interaction.
  • Volunteer coordination, recruitment, or management experience preferred.

Responsabilités

  • Act on behalf of staff at weekly meetings with Operations Manager.
  • Manage scheduling issues with Operations Manager.
  • Recruit and evaluate staff performance with Operations Manager.
  • Identify staff/public safety concerns for resolution.
  • Provide general supervision and task assignments to lodge staff.
  • Oversee training on POS, customer service, and cash management.
  • Oversee lesson booking and management system.
  • Develop volunteer opportunities with Operations/Programs teams.
  • Orient and train new volunteers for roles and responsibilities.
  • Support volunteers and address questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate to align volunteer opportunities with goals.

Description du poste

Reporting to the Operations Manager the position is the lead for lodge staff coordination, and volunteer engagement. Applicants must have exceptional communication skills, have a positive attitude and work in a dynamic and often fast‑paced collaborative team environment. Other requirements include being prepared for the physical demands of the job and available to work through the holidays.

Hours: 35 hrs a week Oct 13, 2026 – Apr 10, 2027

Wage: Starting at $22-25.00 Based on experience.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of nordic skiing and ski area operations
  • Experience with online registration systems and computer software platforms (POS, word processing, web and information management)
  • Ability to take direction, function independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated problem solving, time management, team leadership and supervisory skills
  • Ability to function in a team environment and be adaptable to change
  • Demonstrated strong organization, administrative and delegation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, volunteers, and community members from diverse backgrounds
  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination, recruitment, or management preferred
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Supervisory
  • Act on behalf of the staff at weekly meetings with Operations Manager
  • Managing any scheduling issues that arise with Operations Manager
  • Assist the Operations Manager with recruitment and performance management of staff
  • Identify any staff/public safety concerns notifying the Operations Manager or GM for resolution
  • General supervision and assignment of tasks to lodge staff
  • Oversee regular training on Point of Sale, Customer Service and Cash Management
  • Oversee lesson booking and management system
  • Work closely with various Operations, Programs and Event areas to assess volunteer needs, develop volunteer opportunities, and create a positive and fulfilling volunteer experience
  • Orient and train new volunteers based on their roles and responsibilities, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, addressing any questions or concerns
  • Collaborate with GM and Programs staff to identify needs and develop opportunities for volunteers that align with organizational goals and priorities.
Administrative
  • Handling cash and conducting daily cash outs independently
  • Assist the Operations Manager with oversight of the POS software system
  • Creating, processing and printing of gift certificates
  • Assist in oversight of WhatsApp communication for Lodge Staff as well as Volunteer Trail Crew
  • Ensure effective and organized documentation of rentals and waxing requests
  • Identifying issues, resolving them where possible and identifying staffing needs/problems
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote volunteer opportunities through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and events
  • Maintain a database of volunteers, including their contact information, availability, skills, and interests
  • Regularly communicate with volunteers to provide updates on upcoming opportunities, events, and organizational news
Facilities Operations
  • Respond to First Aid Emergencies
  • Ensure Lodge is open and closed at correct operating times
  • Coordinate and manage changes to staff schedules when sick and adjust as required during busy and quiet times
  • Act on behalf of the Operations Manager while away
  • Ensure daily maintenance and cleaning of facilities is carried out by lodge staff
  • Oversee and assist with general clean-up, snow shoveling, wood delivery, garbage pick-up
  • Standard janitorial duties
  • Restocking of product, identifying when there are deficiencies
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager to determine facility maintenance needs
Member & Guest Direct Service
  • Participating as part of the front counter customer service team
  • Selling tickets and food, renting equipment, managing reservations for lessons and special events
  • Identifying customer service issues, resolving them where possible and identifying chronic systemic or staffing problems to the Operations Manager.
Communications
  • Monitoring, answering and referral of general telephone, web or email inquiries at info@sovereignlake.com and forwarding any necessary inquiries to admin@sovereignlake.com
  • Ensuring updating of daily information on website (weather, trail conditions, etc)
  • Ensuring updating of daily information on message boards(weather,trail conditions,etc)
  • Communicate with lodge staff regarding the days events/lessons and schedule

Reports to: Operations Manager

Schedule: October 13th, 2026 to April 10th, 2027

Competitive Wage: Starting at $22-25.00 Based on experience.
