Advocate Health is seeking a part-time medical laboratory professional for 28 hours per week, with 6pm-6am Saturday and Sunday night shifts and additional hours during the week on day or night shifts. Must hold an associate degree and MT L registry eligibility or equivalent, with MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities include performing testing per QA guidelines, preparing reagents, managing inventory, and maintaining regulatory compliance with CAP/TJC/OSHA.

Schedule Details/Additional Information: 6pm-6am Saturday and Sunday nights with additional hours during the week where needed on day shift and/or night shift.

Pay Range: $24.10 - $36.15

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event.
• Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.
• Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying problems, solving them, and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels, e.g., contacts hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary to resolve the issue or set up service when appropriate.
• Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to regulatory requirements for authorities including CAP, TJC, OSHA.
• Maintains clear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
• Participates in planning and implementing change through participation in staff meetings, task forces or projects.
• Willingly performs all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Works in a fast-paced clinical environment. Works in an area that contains biohazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards. Duties may involve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending and lifting light (20 pounds) to moderately heavy (50 pounds).

Education, Experience and Certifications

Must have an associate degree or equivalent education and training as defined by CLIA. MT L registry eligible or equivalent required. MLT (ASCP/AMT) or equivalent required within one year of hire. MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification through the U.S. military medical laboratory training programs by an accredited institution is acceptable.
