Jefferson County is seeking a Medical Examiner Investigator - Per Diem to join the county office on a part-time, per diem basis. The role pays $90 per case and requires flexibility to respond to incidents within 45–60 minutes in the Jefferson County area, including rotating weekday, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.

Key duties include medicolegal investigations, scene documentation, and collaboration with detectives, crime lab and the District Attorney as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required in nursing, chemistry, biology, medicine, pre-med, paramedic, EMT, forensic science or criminal justice or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of medicolegal investigative experience.

Responsabilités

• Conduct medicolegal investigations, photograph and document scene, determine cause and manner of death, coordinate autopsy, toxicology, and imaging as needed.
• Perform pronouncements, interview medical staff, witnesses, law enforcement and families; notify next of kin and coordinate disposition of the deceased.
• Complete database entry and prepare reports.
