Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Technician to join our Infrastructure Operations team in Madrid. The role involves installing, maintaining, and decommissioning high-density data center hardware, while adhering to data handling and security policies.

You will work with internal teams and external partners to ensure uptime and service quality. The ideal candidate has hardware troubleshooting experience, strong written communication, and familiarity with ticketing systems.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; an IT-related degree is preferred.
• Experience with ticketing systems and prioritizing tasks.

Responsabilités

• Install, remove, and securely destroy media following policies.
• Unpack, repack, and relocate large enterprise equipment.
• Perform basic networking equipment removal/installation.
• Escalate issues to senior technicians when needed.
• Sanitize data on equipment prior to liquidation.

We work with data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling to ensure customers have continual access to AWS services. The Data Center Operations team designs, installs, and maintains the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure, and is looking for a skilled Data Center Technician with a passion for technology to help expand our Cloud footprint. The Datacenter Technician may serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers and partners. This role involves working in cutting-edge data centers in the region and supporting high-density environments.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Data Center Media Technicians to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.

Responsibilities

• Hard drive installation, removal, and destruction; ensuring all media handling policies are followed and updating progress through a web ticketing system. Document daily tasks to ensure business continuity.
• Unpacking/repacking fragile electronics and relocating/moving large enterprise equipment.
• Basic networking equipment removal/installation.
• Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed.
• Perform data sanitization on all equipment prior to liquidation or destruction.
• Perform asset life-cycle state changes.
• Perform process improvement; record data on process inefficiencies and risk, then work with supporting teams to eliminate or mitigate issues.
• Interact with third-party vendors and contractors.
• Data Center Operations Media tech position requires work during business hours.
• Participate as the data center point of contact for high-severity events.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field or 2+ years of IT-related field job experience.
• Demonstrated progressive career growth in technical environments preferred.
• Familiarity with professional correspondence and writing styles.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and direct coordination with management.
• Experience in root cause identification for basic hardware issues.
• Meet or exceed Amazon’s Leadership Principles through data-driven examples.
• Ability to lift and move up to 18 kilograms unassisted; participate in group lifts for heavier items.
