The ESRF in Grenoble is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the ISDD for a time-limited position to design and install equipment for a new nano-tomography beamline. You will contribute to feasibility studies, detailed CAD drawings, procurement coordination, and installation supervision.

Requirements include a Master in mechanical engineering, 3+ years of relevant experience, SolidWorks proficiency, and working knowledge of English. Relocation support is offered as part of the package.

Qualifications

  • Master or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience with drafting, mechanical design and calculations.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Interest in scientific instrumentation and experience in procurement, manufacturing, follow-up and project management is a plus.
  • Autonomous, well-organised, team-oriented and hands-on mindset.
  • Proficiency in English (working language at ESRF).

Responsabilités

  • Carry out feasibility studies and mechanical design studies using CAD tools for components of experimental lines.
  • Participate in engineering calculations.
  • Supervise production of detailed mechanical drawings and coordinate procurement, manufacturing, test and installation phases.
  • Follow up installation of major mechanical equipment in collaboration with ESRF services (infrastructure, electronics, vacuum, alignment, mechanical assembly).
