Qualifications

The Global Engineering team of Alstom Rolling Stock is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer who will work on Mechanical Integration activities (R&D and standardisation) at train level. You will be mainly responsible for carrying out pre-engineering activities in compliance with Quality, Cost and Time commitments and you will report on the progress of engineering activities.

By occupying this role, you will participate in the definition of the trains of the future, develop your network and contribute to the strategic axes of operational excellence of Alstom.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Define requirements and mechanical interfaces of equipment (Allocated volume, weight, location, etc.)
  2. During the call for tenders phase, take into account the hypotheses and the definition of the train to define the best compromise.
  3. In the project phase, support the engineers or the CAO in charge of the project.
  4. Manage R&D activities and associated deliverables on tenders and project pre-engineering taking into account applicable instructions/processes and specific customer requirements (internal or external).
  5. Design solutions taking into account project requirements (performance, manufacturability, helpfulness, testability, etc.), and internal stakeholders (Design To Cost and Design For Manufacturing).

Profile:

  • Mechanical and industrial engineering profile preferably applied to railway products with 2 to 3 years of experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Able to produce reports.
  • Analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Knowledge of principles of Lean Management.
  • Sense of urgency/priority.
  • Customer and product oriented.
  • Structured and organized with a practical approach.
  • Operational English in reading/writing and technical meetings.
