Within the R&D teams of Nemera, this position is responsible for the selection, development, and qualification of polymer materials to support the profitable growth and business continuity planning of Nemera. This role is key in determining the strategic materials technology direction for Nemera, addressing both current needs and future vision.
The Design Engineer Materials reports to the Materials Engineering Manager and is based in Lyon 7e.
Job Description:
- Manage global materials research at various third parties and suggest new technologies that may contribute to the profitable growth of the business unit in alignment with division strategies.
- Manage key activities supporting material development, including material trials and testing.
- Design, supervise, and interpret tests specific to materials characterization with external laboratories.
- Coordinate material technical activities to support plant operations (change control expertise).
- Drive material evaluations in alignment with technology initiatives, regulatory requirements, and supply chain constraints.
- Support strategic blue sky materials innovations.
- Function as material engineering support for new product innovation teams.
- Identify alternate materials for qualification in assigned sites, in conjunction with Supply Chain.
- Assist quality, regulatory, commercial, and manufacturing teams regarding materials technology.
- Develop and maintain key technical relationships with material suppliers.
Qualifications:
What we're looking for:
- Graduate (BS) degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in state-of-the-art materials technology and analytical techniques within the medical devices or pharmaceutical packaging development industry.
- Experience in material and drug formulation interactions.
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly in both small and large meetings.
- Open-minded, positive, and critical thinking mindset, able to build trust and support team goals.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and activities simultaneously.
- Autonomous, excellent listener, and a strong team player.
Languages:
Fluent in English and French.
