Lead Material Controller

Role Purpose:

As Lead Material Controller, your core responsibility is to manage and maintain the flow of materials required for various projects and operations. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right location to support uninterrupted project and operations’ execution.

Role Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: You maintain and lead the maintenance of accurate records of material stock levels, track consumption rates, and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages and surplus.
  • Material Planning: You collaborate with project managers and Supply Chain teams to forecast material requirements and develop effective material planning strategies.
  • Procurement Coordination: You work closely with procurement specialists to ensure timely and cost effective acquisition of materials while adhering to quality standards.
  • Inspection and Quality Control: You verify and lead the verification of the quality and specifications of incoming materials, you conduct and lead inspections and address any discrepancies or noncompliance issues.
  • Warehouse Operations: You oversee material handling, storage, and preservation to prevent damage, loss, or deterioration of materials.
  • Documentation: You maintain and lead the maintenance of comprehensive material records, including receipts, issuances, and transfers, and generate/oversee reports for management and audit purposes.
  • Vendor Management: You establish strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, monitor their performance, and address any logistical or quality concerns.
  • Compliance: You ensure adherence to relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations in all material related activities.
  • Mentoring: You mentor more junior Material Controllers and you support their development

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven track record in material control or inventory management within the oil and gas industry or a similar sector.
  • Mastery of materials used in oil and gas operations, including equipment and spare parts
  • Mastery with procurement processes, warehouse management systems, and inventory tracking tools.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to optimize material usage and reduce waste.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate records and comply with industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with various stakeholders.
