Job description

The company

The European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) is a member-based, not-for-profit organisation bringing together more than 3,500 vascular surgeons in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to improve vascular health for the public benefit through education, training, and the dissemination and creation of scientific knowledge.

The team

Based at ESVS headquarters in Bordeaux, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and with volunteer leaders from across Europe. The role involves regular collaboration with scientific committees, external partners and service providers. Occasional travel, including to the ESVS Annual Meeting, may be required.

About the role

We are looking for a creative, organised and analytically minded Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of our communications activities. Alongside developing compelling campaigns and maintaining a consistent ESVS identity, you will contribute to strategic marketing thinking through benchmarking, performance analysis and new ideas. You will also coordinate activities aimed at our trainees (EVST) and help embed equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles throughout ESVS projects and communications.

Key responsibilities
1. Marketing & communications
  • Plan and deliver integrated communications campaigns supporting ESVS events, education, scientific activities and organisational priorities.
  • Create and coordinate engaging content for the website, newsletters, email campaigns, social media and print materials.
  • Maintain the website (WordPress), promotional calendar and brand consistency across communication channels.
  • Coordinate external agencies, scientific partners and suppliers on relevant campaigns and deliverables.
  • Work with colleagues and committees to identify communication needs, align messages and deliver projects on time.
2. Marketing insight & strategic development
  • Monitor campaign performance and audience engagement, reporting insights and recommending improvements.
  • Benchmark comparable professional and scientific organisations, emerging channels and communication practices.
  • Contribute to the evolution of ESVS marketing and communications strategy, audience development and positioning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, tools, content and the effectiveness of communications investment.
3. Committee Coordination & Support

Coordinate and provide operational support to ESVS committees, working closely with volunteer leaders and internal teams to facilitate the implementation of initiatives, ensure effective communication and monitor progress.

European Vascular Surgeons in Training (EVST)
  • Coordinate EVST initiatives in collaboration with committee members and relevant ESVS colleagues.
  • Support the implementation and promotion of EVST activities related to training, education, careers, research and exchange programmes.
  • Facilitate collaboration between EVST and other ESVS committees, events and educational initiatives.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)
  • Support the implementation of ESVS-approved EDI principles and initiatives across the organisation's activities, events and communications.
  • Collaborate with ESVS teams and committees to integrate EDI considerations into projects and participant engagement.
  • Monitor the progress of EDI initiatives and contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement.
Podcasts Committee
  • Coordinate podcast production schedules and liaise with committee members to ensure the timely delivery of episodes.
  • Publish podcast episodes on relevant streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, etc.).
  • Coordinate the promotion of podcast episodes through ESVS communication channels.
Committee Administration & Follow-up
  • Organise committee meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Maintain regular communication with committee members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Track the progress of committee projects, identify potential delays and report updates to ESVS management.

In a small team and an dynamic work environment, ESVS activities might evolve with time, some increasing, some requiring less support, leading the team to adapt and be flexible to support Committees and projects. It is expected that the Marketing & Communications Manager can also support other ESVS projects if time allows.
