Job Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Distribution, the Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Distribution Center through the MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement) process. This includes labor scheduling, exceeding KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and optimizing space, equipment, and manpower utilization. The Distribution Manager acts as an interface and coordinator among the DC, manufacturing operations, customer service, IT, Human Resources, and Transportation teams.

A Day In The Life
  • Enforce safety standards, policies, practices, visual aids, and procedures within the facility to ensure the safety of all employees, customers, and carriers.
  • Ensure root cause analysis processes are executed throughout the distribution center to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
  • Develop all associates within the facility to ensure key positions are filled and a qualified succession plan is in place.
  • Develop and document plans, drive performance, and ensure timely completion of activities to meet KPIs, customer expectations, and cost goals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to review processes and identify opportunities for improvement, applying lean concepts and tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on lean tools, mentoring others to foster continuous improvement.
  • Recommend annual capital plans to ensure safe and efficient operations while controlling costs.
  • Establish weekly training plans for associates to promote cross-training and meet operational needs.
  • Maintain open communication channels with staff by addressing questions and explaining policies.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in a high-volume warehouse environment.
  • Ten (10) years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Five (5) years of experience with SAP.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent knowledge.
  • Understanding of multiple shipping methods (LTL, Parcel, TL) and experience managing freight carriers.
  • Proven ability to establish coaching and mentoring relationships, with credible leadership presence and a commitment to developing others.
