Qualifications

The Machine Learning/AI team’s mission is to dramatically improve our customers’ experience by automating tasks they do on their products, such as categorising products in a predefined taxonomy (which may change from one customer to another) and detecting and extracting product attributes through the product description.

As a Software Engineer in the ML/AI team, you will work on reinforcing, optimising and scaling our Machine Learning infrastructure. You will work directly with Machine Learning Engineers to design and implement automatic training pipelines on a large amount of data and a scalable way to serve them for inference.

While experience with machine learning is not mandatory, we do require significant experience in software engineering and a keen interest in learning and working with machine learning engineers.

What you’ll do:

- Write robust Python software code in our machine learning repository while applying best software practices to support Research Scientists in tasks such as fetching training data, preprocessing it, and orchestrating the training runs.

- Optimise the inference software such that multiple Machine Learning models can be applied within the same job (especially for extraction where we have multiple models running for this task, according to the attribute’s nature) and such that the appropriate models are executed for each job.

- Maintain the infrastructure in which the ML models are trained and deployed.

Qualifications

- Strong experience with Python and software engineering best practices, ideally in a company in which you worked hands-on with machine learning engineers and data scientists

- Understanding of modern machine learning concepts and state-of-the-art deep learning.

- Write clean and maintainable code

- Ensure software quality through testing and code review

- Optional: DevOps experience, especially in managing large-scale ML infrastructure.

- Optional: Experience working with training frameworks, ideally PyTorch
