Job Description

General Purpose : Accurately and efficiently cook hot food products as well as prepare and portion food prior to cooking. Perform duties related to food and final plate preparation, including plating, garnishing, and preparing appropriate garnishes for hot menu items.

Specific Responsibilities :
  • Understand menu and techniques required to execute dishes properly.
  • Report to work on time and be ready for the scheduled shift.
  • Work effectively as part of a team focused on a common goal.
  • Bring necessary tools such as microplanes, knives, honing steel, tongs, spatula, and spoons; the restaurant provides other tools.
  • Taste and season food properly, regardless of dish simplicity.
  • Work with different heat sources and cooking methods.
  • Receive and apply feedback positively, including from fellow employees.
  • Use knowledge of various proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains, spices, vinegars, etc.
  • Engage in active learning through inquiry.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation before, during, and after service.
  • Assist with station setup and par levels to help sous chefs with ordering and prep lists.
  • Identify product quality and freshness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills; able to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Clean and professional appearance.
  • Enthusiastic about all things 21c.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
