Description du poste

Job Description

As a scientist, you will integrate the Nutrition Microbiota and Heath Center of Excellence and report to the head of skin health research. Based on your expertise and collaboration opportunities within the R&D team, you will implement imaging techniques to explore plausible mechanisms of action and support the substantiation of our products by coupling cellular models with automated imaging to study microorganism-based solutions and their derivatives.

Additionally, your mission will include implementing high-content imaging-based screening approaches to identify new bioactive compounds and feed the innovation pipeline of Lesaffre's cosmetics, human, and animal health business units.

As a skilled automated imaging engineer, you will oversee the setup of a newly acquired High-Content Imaging (HCI) device, supervise its maintenance, develop and validate cellular assays in collaboration with team members and project managers. You will work closely with other scientists in the R&D team to promote this new technology and support new users with assistance in assay development, training, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise the installation, use, and maintenance of the HCI device.
  2. Define safe and best practices in the facility with up-to-date SOPs and MP documents.
  3. Participate in daily laboratory activities in compliance with HSE rules.
  4. Develop, optimize, and validate cellular assay protocols in epifluorescence, confocal, and phase contrast settings, independently and in collaboration with biologists.
  5. Conduct experiments involving 2D and 3D cell cultures, molecular biology, and imaging assays.
  6. Manage data acquisition, ensure data quality, and collaborate with the Biodata team for analysis strategies.
  7. Support project teams and ensure timely execution of work packages.
  8. Train and supervise users, promote the facility, and provide assistance in assay development, training, and troubleshooting.
  9. Communicate results and issues effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  10. Propose and develop new high-quality screening assays, maintaining thorough records (electronic lab books, reports).

Qualifications

  • PhD in cell biology, biotechnology, or related field with a strong background in cell-based assays.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing an automated microscope for high-content imaging in academia or industry.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative spirit and ability to train others.
  • Structured, rigorous, and precise approach combined with scientific curiosity.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive, do-it-yourself mindset.
  • Experience in histology and programming is a plus.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of other languages is a plus.
