Role Overview

We are looking for a Legal and Licensing Manager with a Project Management background to help drive Wello’s expansion in France and Europe. This role will be instrumental in managing licensing applications, coordinating with external vendors and law firms, and supporting the operational setup of our European entity. Over time, this role is expected to grow into the Country Manager for France, taking on broader responsibilities in local office management and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Licensing Support

• Manage the end-to-end process of European licensing applications, working closely with external law firms and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial and crypto regulations.
• Act as a key liaison between Wello and regulatory authorities.
• Oversee external vendors, including law firms, compliance partners, and service providers.
• Collaborate with Wello’s international team to align legal and operational strategies.
• Ensure smooth execution of legal, compliance, and licensing projects.

Business & Operations Setup

• Support the establishment of Wello’s European entity, overseeing legal structuring and operational frameworks.
• Work cross-functionally with product, compliance, business development, and finance teams to enable Wello’s market entry.
• Develop policies and processes for local operations.

Office & Team Growth

• Play a key role in setting up and managing Wello’s France office.
• Gradually take on leadership responsibilities, evolving into the Country Manager role.

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of experience in legal, licensing, regulatory compliance, or project management, preferably in fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, licensing processes, and compliance frameworks in France / Europe.
• Experience managing external legal vendors and liaising with regulators.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Legal qualification or background in law, finance, or compliance is highly preferred.
• Fluency in French and English is required.
