Job Description:

We are looking for a Lecturer - Loudspeaker & Environment to develop our research activities in collaboration with third party academic institutions, exploring new fields in sound professionals’ practices and multisensory experience evaluation.

Join the L-Acoutics Education & Scientific Outreach department, a multi-disciplinary department dedicated to the creation, the delivery, and the transfer of a reference education program for sound professionals. The Field Application Research team conducts research on guidelines and best-field practices for audio professionals. Results are subject to scientific publications and education material for onsite and online educational activities. The team also acts as a bridge between L-Acoustics and the academic and educational communities.

Your activities will likely include:

Conduct research related to sound professionals’ practices and the global behavior of sound systems in the fields of:

• Loudspeaker interaction with the environment (outdoor, indoor) accounting to atmospheric conditions, audience, room acoustics
• Analyze the influence of the environment on the performance of loudspeaker systems (quality for the audience: alignment of main systems with fills and sub, loudspeaker system contour; noise pollution in the environment: directional and frequency dependent)
• Creation of loudspeaker system design and optimization guidelines accounting for the environment and other parameters (audience area distribution, music genre)
• Define onsite best practices (acoustics and physical measurements, parameters adjustments, …)
• Usage of new L-Acoustics technologies and their field usage

Interact with multiple entities in the company around scientific & education activities:

• Other lecturers in the Education division around the perception characterization of the impact of the environment
• Research activities with dedicated teams in R&D, in charge of the development of new technologies
• Creation / specifications of tools and recommendations for end users, sound designers and consultants, in collaboration with the Product Management and R&D divisions
• Education activities & field expertise support within Education Programs and with Education Operations department
• Talks at scientific conferences, educational forum of trade shows or internal events
• Design and participate to collaborative projects with third party academic and professional partners (master’s projects and internship, PhD students, collaborative research and educational projects)

Define and design lectures and courses related to sound, from fundamental to expert level, contributing to the best usage of L-Acoustics products (with Education Excellence team).

Instructor of designed lectures and courses, maximum 10 days per year:

• Sessions for internal L-Acoustics staff or at L-Acoustics events
• Sessions at professional events
• Sessions in partner Academic Institutions at bachelor or master level

Participate to the development of our Digital Education Platform:

• Online digital platform for trainees, trainers, learning designers, and training center managers
• Online community management of more than 13000 audio professionals
• Master’s Degree or PhD in Acoustics, Audio Engineering or related field
• Native or proficiency English
• Experience in collaborative research projects
• Record of scientific publications
• Prior supervision of a PhD student is a plus
• Strong interest in scientific outreach
• Very good didactic approach and writing skills
• Critical thinking, didactive approach and proactive attitude
• Attention to details and quality of finished work
• Good social and communication skills
