Offer Description

Come and join IMT Mines Alès, a prestigious engineering school that ranks among the best in France and worldwide, based in Alès, a town on a human scale, the capital of the Cévennes, where the quality of life is highly appreciated by its inhabitants.

You will join CERIS and be attached to the EuroMov Digital Health in Motion (EuroMov DHM) research team.

As a Senior Lecturer at the Institut Mines-Télécom, you will be involved in teaching, research and technology transfer. This position combines training, applied research and innovation, with a strong link between academia and industry.

Teaching activities
Depending on your area of expertise, you will be involved in the school's teaching activities, which include:
General engineering training, Initial Training under Student Status (FISE) ;
Specialised engineering training, Initial Training as an Apprentice (FISA);
Specialised training (masters, specialised masters, continuing education);
Doctoral training.

Your expertise in applied mathematics, machine learning and biosignal processing will be an essential asset for the teaching in the 2IA department, particularly in the modules dedicated to machine learning and the ‘cognitive engineer’ speciality.
You will also be able to contribute to the 2IA department's Teaching Units (TUs), particularly those that include Teaching Unit Components (TUCs) linked to machine learning, applied mathematics or signal processing.
You will be responsible for coordinating certain courses linked to artificial intelligence and data science, as well as part of the teaching in these areas (ECUE). You will be able to contribute to teaching and pedagogical exercises in the 2IA department, such as :
Introduction to machine learning for the Computer Science and Networks (InfRes) apprenticeship course;
Supervision of research projects: R&D assignments and technical studies;
Introduction to machine learning (S8 - Bac+4 level);

Advanced machine learning (team supervision of the S9 hackathon - level Bac+5) ;
Involvement in one or other of the department's specialities open to S10 (Bac+5 level): Image analysis and processing (programme being redesigned); Natural language and speech processing; Deep learning/Reinforcement learning, Cognitive engineering.
Teaching for a non-specialist audience is also expected, in particular for the colourations that take place during the common core of the FISE (Formation Initiale sous Statut d'Etudiant) and the FISA (Formations Initiales sous Statut d'Apprenti):
ECUE ‘Foundations of AI’ (courses/DD/TP in inverted pedagogy, parallelized for classes of 140 to 250 students)
ECUE ‘Algorithms and Object Programming’ (courses/DD/PT/Projects in flipped learning, parallelized for classes of 250 students)

ECUE ‘Algorithms and Object Programming’ (courses/DD/TP/Projects in reversed pedagogy, parallelized for classes of 250 students)
You will also be able to apply your knowledge to other UEs in the FISE core curriculum (signal processing, statistics, operational research),
You will take part in the major teaching exercises in the curriculum, such as juries and oral examinations, and will be asked from time to time to take part in the school's other teaching activities and exercises (supervising fieldwork assignments in the core curriculum, projects, work placements, academic tutoring). Part of the course may be taught in English, using active teaching methods.
As an indication, participation in teaching activities represents an average of around 150 hours per year for a teacher-researcher.
You will be required to supervise applied research projects (research and development assignments or technical studies), as well as work placements and support for apprentices. You will also take part in major academic assessments, such as juries and examinations, and may be asked to take part in other teaching activities at the school, in particular supervising fieldwork, projects and academic tutoring.

Research activities
As part of the scientific orientations of CERIS and the UR EuroMov DHM, you will carry out research mainly focused on data science applied to movement and health sciences. The close interaction between the work of the research unit and teaching needs will foster a dynamic of mutual enrichment between research and teaching.
Within the MIB&Co (Monitoring and Improvement of Behavior and Cognition) theme of the EuroMov DHM research unit, you will need to have skills in biosignal processing (ECG, EEG, NIRS, EMG, HRV, etc.) and neuroergonomics, adopting an interdisciplinary approach combining artificial intelligence, neuroscience and applied mathematics. In-depth expertise in machine learning and data analysis methods is also expected.
You will also be expected to be actively involved in the EuroMov DHM platforms, in particular by setting up and running experimental protocols involving human participants.

Valorisation and technology transfer activities
Research activities should be the subject of standard academic valorisation, e.g. publications in journals and conferences, and participation in GdRs and ITM communities. You will also be responsible for getting involved in commercialization activities with partner companies. This will include industrial chairs, setting up and participating in research contracts with industry, and drafting applications for funding from public bodies or international programmes.
In addition, you will need to be able to understand the process of commercial exploitation of research results in order to identify opportunities to contribute to cooperation between academic research, industrial research and the innovation sectors.
Finally, in your field of scientific and technical expertise, you will be required to carry out actions designed to support companies or the IMT Mines Alès incubator in order to encourage the creation of spin-offs and the development of technological companies.

The position requires solid teaching and research experience in the fields of AI, biosignal processing and neuroscience, as well as the ability to work in a team, to innovate pedagogically and to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, including internationally. Strong interpersonal and personal skills such as dynamism, rigour, autonomy, adaptability and good organisational skills are also expected.

The assessment criteria are :
Degree required: PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Signal Processing.

Selection criteria for the teaching activity :
Level of teaching provided
Importance given to pedagogical innovation
Involvement and reputation in the community in the field
Selection criteria for research activity
National and international recognition of the research results obtained
