Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to design and ship robust desktop apps across Windows platforms. You will lead architecture, ensure accessibility, and collaborate with designers, QA, and other engineers to drive feature roadmaps and long-term quality.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, performance tuning, and maintainable design for a global user base. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Windows desktop app development with Windows App SDK and WinUI (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of C#, XAML, and optionally C++ for native interop.
• Deep understanding of Windows architectures and interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production Windows desktop apps with focus on reliability and performance.
• Experience with accessibility APIs and inclusive software design.
• Strong fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, and multi-threading/async.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• A user-centric mindset delivering polished, accessible experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK and WinUI.
• Set best practices for code architecture, performance, memory use, and version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, keyboard navigation, screen readers, and inclusive UI.
• Collaborate with product designers, QA, and engineers to shape features and long-term roadmap.
• Own features end-to-end from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance bottlenecks; propose robust solutions.
