Lead Project Engineer

Summary of the Role

Responsibilities :

• Lead multi-discipline engineering team.
• Support DIO Project Manager in managing consultants and contractors.
• Work closely with BIM / CAD team.
• Identify project functional and stakeholder requirements.
• Elicit and develop user/system requirements.
• Develop work scopes.
• Manage engineering support for projects.
• Support project optioneering process.
• Review and approve project drawings and documentation.
• Manage detailed design activities in accordance with HMNB (Clyde) standards.
• Carry out technical assessments and approve contractor work instructions, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical supervision during construction/deconstruction to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Specify and supervise commissioning and decommissioning activities.
• Liaise with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure effective delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies, procedures, and risk assessments, and promote continuous improvement.
• Chair meetings and design reviews.
• Prepare and deliver engineering presentations.
• Respond to technical queries and resolve engineering problems.

Project Interfaces :

• Framework contractors.
• Consultant design team.
• Site stakeholders.
• Original equipment manufacturers.
• DIO project management, commercial, cost, project controls, risk.

Qualifications, Skills, or Experience :

• Degree in relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or ability to attain it, demonstrating ongoing professional development.
• Experience in project engineering of work packages, including site implementation and integration within a highly regulated environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of legislation and standards in a highly regulated industry.
• Experience producing technical documentation such as reports, specifications, and queries.
• Stakeholder liaison experience.
• Basic health and safety training for site visits.
• Nuclear safety case experience (desirable).
