We are looking for a Lead Certification Engineer to join the Certification team and take part in our new aeronautic projects. Your key role will be to drive new seat certifications from (E)TSO application to delivery, provide the required substantiation and qualification documentation to OEMs and aviation authorities, and supervise the continued airworthiness of our in-service seat fleets throughout their life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Head of Certification, manage certification and qualification projects for Expliseat products:
- Define the certification and qualification road maps and the associated means of compliance (physical testing, rational analysis) for seats and their sub-systems.
- In cooperation with Product and Programs departments, rationalize the number of prototypes required for a given certification or qualification campaign.
- Write the substantiation documents in cooperation with the Engineering department and release all deliverables (Test Plans, System Description, etc.) within the schedule of program milestones.
- Take part in monthly meetings with aviation authorities.
- Guarantee a comprehensive demonstration of compliance of the product with the applicable regulation and customer specification, through Analysis Reports and Test Reports.
- Ensure the continued compliance with airworthiness standards and specifications of Expliseat products throughout their lifecycle:
- Manage the reporting process for incidents subjected to the « in-service occurrence report system» and monitor the follow-up of these incidents and repair solutions through Service Bulletins.
- Supervise the process for design modifications in compliance with EASA regulations and OEM requirements (Equipment Definition Evolution Sheets, etc.).
- Analyze customer requests for upgrades and production derogations from an airworthiness perspective and provide guidance on the acceptability of the design changes.
- Support new developments and early-stage program assessments with regulatory guidance:
- Take part in Product Design reviews and advise the engineering team regarding the use of new materials and or new designs with respect to certification requirements (flammability, passenger safety, etc.).
- Be the point of contact with OEM representatives for qualification and certification discussions.
- Attend expert groups and seat committees to keep up with regulation evolutions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent.
- Act as subject matter specialist for certification issues in a variety of areas, including flammability, dynamic and static testing, design compliance.
- Knowledge or experience with: AS8049, CS / FAR 25 / 27 / 29, (E)TSO C39 / C127 & (E)TSO processes.
- Ability to analyze regulatory requirements and advisory materials.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- English: advanced level.
- Knowledge of ATA 100 or ATA iSpec 2200 formats is a plus.
