Job summary

Ooak Data is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Paris to lead one of our product squads end to end: ingestion, anonymization & processing, or QA & delivery. You report to Thomas (CTO & co-founder) and will own your squad's delivery, lead hands-on coding, and manage 4–6 engineers.

You will shape technical direction, collaborate with product and operations, and drive fast, secure delivery of data-intensive pipelines. Join a YC-backed company with strong growth and central Paris offices.

Qualifications

10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing engineers.
Strong backend depth on data-intensive systems: Python or Rust in production.
Experience with data-intensive pipelines, SQL, distributed pipelines, cloud infrastructure (GCP or equivalent).
AI-native development experience with coding agents.
Track record of shipping in a demanding, fast-moving environment (startup or scale-up).
High bar on quality and security for handling sensitive data.
Team-first, low ego; fluent English mandatory.

Responsibilities

Own your squad's delivery across ingestion, anonymization & processing or QA & delivery.
Lead 4 to 6 engineers; manage day-to-day; hire and onboard.
Shape the technical direction with CTO & leads: stack, infra, data architecture, testing, observability.
Collaborate with product and ops; delivery embedded in the build; priorities move fast.
Over the first 12 months, ship at scale and build the squad with founders; structure rituals and processes.
