Description du poste

The Paris Brain Institute (ICM) is an international research centre that brings patients, researchers, and medical doctors together to understand and treat disorders of the nervous system. Training of young researchers with diverse backgrounds is essential. The Wyart lab at the Paris Brain Institute is a highly interdisciplinary team composed of molecular and cell biologists, physiologists, physicists, computer scientists, and ecologists. To facilitate collaboration, the Wyart lab is recruiting a lab manager.

MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE LAB MANAGER

The Wyart lab is seeking an experienced lab manager to oversee organizational and operational aspects of the laboratory’s research activities. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Claire Wyart, the lab head, and Feng Quan and Kevin Fidelin, project managers. The role involves bringing molecular biology expertise to advance our understanding of movement-related neuronal populations in the brainstem at molecular, circuit, and behavioral levels, in health and disease, across vertebrate model organisms. The position requires high discipline, versatility, autonomy, proactivity, supportiveness, didactic skills, and dynamism to teach good practices to lab members. Rigor and organizational skills are essential. The main responsibilities include:

Qualifications for scientific projects

  • CRISPR/Cas-based generation of zebrafish transgenic lines via early morning injections
  • Multiplexed Hybridization Chain Reaction (HCR) approaches in situ
  • Single-cell and spatial transcriptomics approaches in mouse and zebrafish

Responsibilities: Daily lab operations

  • Order and archive reagents and small equipment
  • Manage stocks and organization of molecular and cellular biology reagents
  • Organize and maintain lab databases, assign lab tasks to members
  • Coordinate onboarding, access, and training of new lab members
  • Maintain lab equipment (organize maintenance contracts, updates, repairs)
  • Represent the lab at institute-level meetings to optimize practices
  • Coordinate with facility managers for outsourcing services (sequencing, genotyping, etc.)
  • Manage internal communication with core facilities (e.g., PhenoZfish, ICM.Quant, Histomics, NeuroCEB, E3M FACS)

Time schedule and location

  • No teleworking
  • Early morning injections for generating genetically modified organisms
  • Occasional weekend work for animal care
  • Travel for training and conferences within Ile-de-France and occasionally abroad
