Our Client

Part of an ambitious and progressive international group, the company is a well-established manufacturer and supplier of Polypropylene used in a wide variety of applications supplying a European customer base.

The company is targeting growth in all areas where polypropylene is used.

This role requires the incumbent to have an ambitious and tenacious nature with a strong commercial mind set and the ability to build relationships - someone who would class themselves to be a natural hunter and networker as well as the ability to become strong relationship manager as a Key Account Manager.

Main Responsibilities and Key Tasks

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to execute tailored strategies that transition existing customers into higher-margin market segments for the sale of polypropylene
  • Onboard new customers from strategic segments ensuring alignment with the company’s Key Account strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts acting as the primary point of contact and internal “voice of the customer” to ensure satisfaction and long-term loyalty
  • Use the CRM system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, preferences and purchase histories to support relationship development
  • Identify growth opportunities and competitive advantages within strategic segments and the key account base
  • Lead complex sales negotiations including pricing adjustments, contract renewals and supply agreements that align with business and customer needs
  • Develop clear value propositions aligned with customer goals while addressing issues such as cost pressures and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor customer performance metrics to ensure alignment with sales targets and margin objectives
  • Challenge traditional industry practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, production, marketing) to deliver tailored solutions for customers
  • Support the business in using value chain collaboration to enhance value creation and market position
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations and technological advancements affecting polypropylene applications in target markets
  • Drive initiatives to improve the product portfolio in response to environmental concerns and increasing demand for sustainable materials

Competencies and Skills

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in the European polypropylene market with proven experience in developing new markets
  • Demonstrable success in managing key accounts within high-value industries
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills to effectively navigate competitive and challenging market conditions
  • Proven expertise in complex negotiations and relationship management with high-value clients
  • Ability to uncover new business opportunities through deep market understanding and customer insights
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders across all levels of internal and client organisations
  • Proactive problem-solver with the confidence to challenge conventional industry thinking
  • Ambitious and driven to deliver innovative solutions that generate mutual growth for the company and its customers
  • English plus another language required.
