Canonical is seeking a Junior UX Designer to join our Design Team, responsible for enhancing the user experience of our products. The role involves working collaboratively with engineers and product managers, focusing on research-led design and continuous improvement. We offer a remote work environment with growth opportunities and benefits that support professional development.
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include major public cloud and silicon providers, along with industry leaders across sectors. The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing.
We are hiring a Junior UX Designer for our Design Team. Junior UX Designers play a vital role in the success of Ubuntu, the Canonical developer experience, and our Infrastructure and Enterprise products. There is an expectation of growth to deliver outstanding UX experiences and to take ownership of your product’s design.
Our design team aims to transform complex, open-source software into efficient, intuitive products that can change how complex systems are built and demonstrate what open source can achieve for enterprise IT. We seek a talented, passionate UX designer who shares these ambitions.
This role reports to a UX design manager and is based remotely in the EMEA region.
UX designers should be excellent communicators, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives. They must represent the team at cross-functional meetings, articulate their design position clearly, and connect their leadership to the company's strategic vision.
Compensation is based on location, experience, and performance, with annual reviews and performance-driven bonuses or commissions. Additional benefits reflect our values and vary to meet local needs globally:
Canonical leads in open source innovation, publishing Ubuntu, a key platform for AI, IoT, and cloud computing. We recruit globally, uphold high standards, and foster a work environment that values excellence, diversity, and inclusion. Most colleagues work remotely, embracing the future of work.
We are committed to a workplace free from discrimination. We value diversity and ensure fair consideration of all applications.
