Job Description:

The OECD is seeking a Junior Legal Advisor to support the Directorate for Legal Affairs in Paris. The role involves providing legal support related to OECD accession processes, including drafting legal advice, liaising with candidate countries, and assisting in negotiations on privileges and immunities. The candidate will also prepare briefing materials, facilitate inter-directorate coordination, and perform other legal duties as required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing legal and procedural advice on accession reviews and participate in OECD body discussions.
  • Research and interpret OECD legal instruments relevant to accession.
  • Prepare reports and advise OECD governing bodies on accession status and external relations.
  • Negotiate agreements with candidate countries on privileges and immunities.
  • Liaise with candidate countries on accession procedures.
Accession Co-ordination
  • Draft briefing materials and analyses on accession status for senior officials.
  • Facilitate communication between candidate countries, the Secretariat, and Member countries.
  • Develop guidance on legal and procedural issues and organize inter-directorate meetings.
  • Monitor developments in the accession process and ensure smooth information flow.
Qualifications

Academic Background: Advanced degree in law, preferably in public international law.

Professional Experience: At least two years in public international law; experience in international organizations or foreign ministries is advantageous.

Languages: Excellent command of English or French, working knowledge of the other; additional languages like Portuguese, Spanish, Bahasa, or Thai are assets.

Additional Information
