JUNIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER / GEOSCIENTIST

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Junior Environmental Engineer / Geoscientist to join our team. We are seeking a full-time Junior Environmental Engineer / Geoscientist in our Fredericton office.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

Educational & Experience Requirements :

• Bachelor's Degree in geological engineering, geoscience, environmental engineering, hydrogeology, or civil engineering.
• Eligible to register with APEGNB as an MIT (EIT or GIT).
• Previous experience in environmental sampling or hydrogeology (via summer or co-op work terms) is considered an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word for data tabulation and report preparation is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and Adobe Acrobat is an asset.

Main Duties :

• Field testing and sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, soil vapour, and air.
• Measuring and recording field data using equipment such as water quality meters, water level meters, oil/water interface probes, photoionization detectors, data loggers, GPS, and survey gear.
• Sampling and quantifying potentially hazardous building materials.
• Overseeing drilling and general contractors during assessment and remediation of contaminated sites.
• Overseeing well drilling contractors during water supply assessments.
• Carrying heavy loads of equipment and samples in adverse conditions.
• Adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Documenting field conditions, measurements, and observations for reports and deliverables.
• Assisting in preparing proposals and technical reports.
• Organizing and interpreting laboratory data and regulatory criteria.
• Other duties as required.

Position :

• Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Contract, or Part-time.
