Category Management Responsibilities
- Implement clear Chemicals/Packaging Purchasing processes & strategies at the regional level in liaison with the Regional Category Manager.
- Deliver expected Cash and Savings Targets.
- Report on project KPIs, forecasts, and savings related to the category.
- Provide market review information and data for Senior Management on time (e.g., RFQ results, packaging workshops implementation).
- Participate in Operations review meetings.
- Collect needs from various sites via local buyers and operations teams, challenge them, and introduce alternatives into the current Sourcing Portfolio.
- Implement performance reviews with strategic suppliers, assessing them through KPIs (Financial, Supply, Quality, Innovation, etc.).
- Conduct industry and competitor analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities, material selection, manufacturing techniques, and sourcing strategies.
- Monitor indexes and market trends, communicating regularly to anticipate opportunities and risks.
- Collaborate across regions to leverage bargaining power, share knowledge, and foster continuous improvement.
- Participate in global supplier panel updates and manage market surveys to identify new producers or distributors.
- Develop low-cost country suppliers in collaboration with other regional teams.
- Animate the Chemicals & Packaging community at the regional level, including project reviews and updates on tools, contracts, and claims.
- Enhance market expertise through benchmarking, supplier intelligence, and industry events.
- Regularly scan the market for new producers/distributors and regulatory changes impacting supply or prices.
Job Scope and Dimensions
Chemicals and Packaging are key strategic commodities for IMERYS, with over €66M spend across multiple European assets. The Regional Category Manager reports to the EMEA Global Category Director and collaborates closely with plants and local purchasing teams to ensure supply continuity and competitive sourcing. The purchasing team significantly contributes to business profitability.

Job Specifications
Education and Experience:
- Business or Engineering Degree - Masters level.
- 2-3+ years of experience in International Purchasing.
- Strong presentation and communication skills in French and English.
- Proven managerial ability.
- Ability to influence and secure buy-in in a dotted-line reporting structure.
