Cozycozy is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to help connect and scale our inventory of 20+ million accommodations. You will work with Senior Engineers to develop new integrations and maintain high-volume back-end data pipelines using Node.js/TypeScript.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional software engineering experience, backend-focused, or equivalent project experience.
• Core stack knowledge in Node.js, JavaScript & TypeScript.
• Familiarity with NoSQL (MongoDB) or relational (PostgreSQL) databases.
• Basic understanding of web concepts (cookies, session handling, etc.).
• Curiosity to learn complex system architecture, data integration techniques, and RxJS principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Responsabilités

• Integration Development & Support: Develop, test and deploy integrations with new accommodation partners using Node.js/TypeScript.
• Data Collection: Fetch static partner information and real-time price/availability via APIs or scraping tools.
• Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve issues in existing integrations to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Back-end System Contribution: Contribute to data ingestion/processing services; optimize queries across MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Learning & Collaboration: Participate in code reviews and write maintainable, well-tested code.

Cozycozy is the platform that gives real-time access to all available holiday accommodations, featuring over 20 million listings from multiple booking sites. Offices in Paris and Budapest, with presence in over 50 countries and 20 languages.

About the role

As a Junior Backend Engineer at Cozycozy, you will help connect and expand our global inventory of more than 20 million accommodations. You will work closely with Senior Engineers to develop new integrations and maintain high-volume back-end data pipelines.

This role is ideal for an ambitious engineer looking to build a foundational career in high-scale back-end systems using modern technologies like Node.js/TypeScript. You will gain hands-on experience with complex integration challenges (APIs and web scraping) and receive mentorship while making a direct impact on our core product.

The position is onsite at our Budapest office.

Your mission

Integration Development & Support

• New Integrations: Assist Senior Engineers in developing, testing, and deploying integrations with new accommodation partners using Node.js/TypeScript.
• Data Collection: Write and maintain reliable code to fetch static partner information and real-time price and availability data via partner APIs or web scraping tools.
• Troubleshooting: Actively participate in debugging and resolving issues related to existing integrations to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

Back-end System Contribution

• Data Processing: Contribute to maintenance and enhancement of back-end services for data ingestion and processing, focusing on performance and scalability.
• Database Operations: Perform basic operations and assist in optimizing queries across MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases under senior guidance.
• Asynchronous Logic: Learn and apply RxJS and reactive programming within the Node.js environment to manage data streams efficiently.

Learning & Collaboration

• Code Quality: Participate in code reviews and practice clean, well-tested, maintainable code.
• Documentation: Create and update technical documentation for new and existing partner integrations.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with the engineering team, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand integration requirements.

This role may be for you if you have

• 1-2 years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably backend-focused, or equivalent project experience.
• Core stack knowledge in Node.js, JavaScript & TypeScript.
• Familiarity with NoSQL (MongoDB) or relational (PostgreSQL) databases.
• A basic understanding of web concepts (cookies, session handling, etc.).
• Curiosity and a strong desire to learn complex system architecture, data integration techniques, and reactive programming principles (RxJS).
• A meticulous approach to writing code and debugging data synchronization issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English for a collaborative international environment.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and seek help proactively when blocked.
