Your Mission

We are seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join the Search team at BlaBlaCar. The team's mission is to enable passengers to seamlessly select the most relevant multimodal trips from our carpool, bus, and soon train options.

As a Backend Engineer, your role will be to contribute to delivering a reliable and scalable multimodal search platform. You will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with a full-stack team of 11 engineers.

Your Responsibilities

• Participate in designing, developing, and maintaining Java microservices that support the Search flow on the BlaBlaCar platform.
• Engage in the entire application lifecycle, from initial meetings and design to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring, alerting, and support.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to define features and find the most relevant solutions for our members.
• Interact with colleagues from diverse roles and backgrounds, sharing your technical expertise with technical, product, and business teams.

Your Qualifications

• Experience with Java and frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Understanding of service-oriented architecture and architectural patterns.
• Good communication skills, humility, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge or experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog is a plus.
• Proficiency in English.
• Alignment with BlaBlaCar principles, including thriving in a collaborative, fast-growing, and innovative environment, and the ability to take ownership aligned with business priorities.

• 60-minute video call with Louise, Engineering Manager.
• 90-minute live coding session with Software Engineers.
• 60-minute design interview with Software Engineers.
• 30-minute video call with Gilles, VP of Engineering, for vision fit.
