BlaBlaCar is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to help build the 360-degree Care back-office for user journey management. You will contribute to the design, development and rollout of the Phoenix back-office system in a fast-paced squad.

You’ll work with Java microservices, Spring framework, and collaborate with frontend and product teams to ensure smooth integration. You should be curious, eager to learn beyond backend, and comfortable with AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java and frameworks like Spring/Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with service-oriented architecture patterns.
• Open to modern development tools and AI coding assistants.
• Curiosity to explore frontend with React and TypeScript.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
• Fluent in English.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders to shape features arriving in production.
• Develop and maintain Java microservices for Care flows on the BlaBlaCar platform.
• Contribute to all lifecycle stages: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring and support.

Your Mission

As part of the Corporate Services pillar, your mission will be to empower our Community

Relations Team (CRT) with the tools they need to have a 360-degree view of the user journey

across our platform.The Care team's primary objective is to build "Phoenix," our new, comprehensive back-office system. This service aggregates data from all other teams and supply lines (train, carpool, and bus), while also providing critical action capabilities regarding our users, such as account blocking and content moderation.

As a Junior Backend Engineer, you’ll work collaboratively with your squad mates and your stakeholders on the design and the delivery of this product from the early-stage conception to the final roll-out. Your role will be to contribute to the creation of this unified backoffice and to ensure our customer relation agents can operate seamlessly.

You will work within a full-stack team of 3 backend & 1 frontend engineers. You will collaborate closely with the Community Relations Team (CRT) as well as with Product Managers from other teams to best define needs and ensure seamless integration across the company.

Your skills and qualifications

• You have a first experience in Java and its frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
• You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.
• You are open to modern development tools. Some experience with AI coding assistants is a plus, and you are definitely open-minded about leveraging AI to boost your daily workflow.
• You are curious and eager to learn beyond the backend, exploring frontend projects using React and TypeScript.
• Some knowledge or prior experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Datadog is a plus.
• You're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a strong product focus, you appropriately set the needle between technical quality and time-to-market.
• You have good communication skills, you enjoy sharing & learning from others, you’re able to adapt your communication to non-technical stakeholders.
• You’re a team player, willing to positively tweak and improve our team’s ways of working, favoring team communication and agreements over theoretical or dogmatic approaches.
• You embrace change, are able to take a step back, and focus on added-value tasks.
• You’re fluent in English.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders to help shape the features that land in production.
• Participate in the technical design, development, and maintenance of the Java microservices that serve the Care flows for the BlaBlaCar platform.
• Participate in the whole application lifecycle, from early meetings and design to development, test strategy, and deployment - and of course, monitoring, alerting, and support.
• Share your knowledge in the team: provide documentation on your work, set-up and enforce good practices and processes, communicate on changes, conduct code reviews.
