European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to support senior staff in drafting correspondence and decisions in standard form cases. You will examine applications, draft minutes and reports, attend sessions, and assist with Chamber preparations.

The role includes comprehensive training, a fixed-term assignment, and work across Estonian law with English or French drafting; applicants must be under 35 and fluent in Estonian plus one other official language.

Qualifications

• Law degree eligible for judicial administration or legal professions in Estonia.
• Max two years of relevant legal experience after degree.
• Very good knowledge of one official language (English or French) and excellent Estonian.
• Citizen of Council of Europe member state; military obligation fulfilled.
• Under 35 years old at application deadline.
• Ability to draft legal texts clearly and precisely.

Responsabilités

• Examine applications in prima facie inadmissible or standard cases.
• Draft decisions, minutes, reports, notes and other documents.
• Attend Court sessions and present applications.
• Assist senior lawyers in preparing Chamber cases for examination by the Court.
