Offer Description

The principal objective of this postdoctoral position is to make progress in model theory, field arithmetic, arithmetic geometry, and algebraic number theory. This is part of the ANR-DFG project "AKE-PACT".

As part of the ANR-DFG project "The AKE Philosophy: Arithmetic geometry and Classification Theory" ("AKE-PACT"), we seek a postdoctoral researcher for a post based under the direction of Sylvy Anscombe at the IMJ-PRG in Paris. The project is run jointly with Franziska Jahnke, at Münster, and we expect that the candidate will pass a portion of their time there (around six months). The proposed research includes valued fields, model theory, logic, field arithmetic, arithmetic geometry, and some algebraic number theory. Nevertheless, the postdoctoral researcher could work in one or more of these domains, not necessarily all, depending on their expertise and centres of interest.

The postdoctoral researcher will join the équipe de Logique in the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu-Paris Rive Gauche. The post will be for 24 months, beginning between September 2025 and January 2026.

The candidate should justify their experience of research in model theory, the algebra of fields, field arithmetic, arithmetic geometry, and/or algebraic number theory. We expect that the successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of these domains, but all serious candidatures will be considered. This position offers great flexibility to focus on different aspects of our project, depending on the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate must be autonomous. A research project related to the position's research themes will be appreciated.
