Offer Description

Main Mission

The project focuses on a preclinical approach to gene therapy for mitochondrial diseases associated with POLG gene mutations. These rare, often pediatric and lethal conditions require new curative strategies. The team is developing a treatment using AAV vectors, and the recruited researcher will contribute to the development and evaluation of this innovative strategy.

Main Activities

• Histological analyses (immunofluorescence, activity tests) on brains and other murine tissues
• Animal experimentation, including injections and perfusions
• Molecular and cellular biology techniques (PCR, Western blot, cell culture)
• Management of mouse colonies: genotyping, monitoring via dedicated software
• Ensuring the quality and reproducibility of experiments
• Meeting project deadlines and experimental timelines
• Presenting results in team meetings and scientific seminars

Work in an international environment, supervised by two senior researchers, with access to cutting-edge platforms. The project is supported by the POLG Foundation in a translational research center.

Knowledge Required

• Cellular and molecular biology applied to gene therapy
• Tissue imaging and histological analysis
• Proficiency in experimental techniques (PCR, Western blot, cell culture)
• Good level of English (project's working language)
• Understanding of experimental rigor and reproducibility principles
