Offer Description

We are seeking a qualified and motivated postdoctoral scientist for the DECISIF project (“De l'estimation des cinétiques des zones source de type NAPL in fine”), funded by ADEME. This R&D project involves a consortium of engineering companies, GINGER-BURGEAP and GINGER-CEBTP, and public research labs, including the Institut de Mécanique des Fluides de Toulouse (IMFT) and the Institut Terre et Environnement de Strasbourg (ITES).

The project aims to model transfer kinetics during experiments on the multi-decameter scale of the SCERES platform.

The postdoctoral researcher will:

  1. Prepare venting experiments on SCERES, including installing air injection and extraction rods, verifying sampling points, and setting up the PCE source zone.
  2. Monitor PCE vapor and dissolved concentrations weekly using appropriate analytical methods.
  3. Conduct controlled venting tests starting from a nearly exhausted NAPL source zone.
  4. Prepare scientific publications based on experimental results.

The position is for 9 months, starting around September 1, 2025. ITES, a CNRS research unit established in 2021, focuses on Earth and near-surface environment sciences, including hydrology, geochemistry, geology, and geophysics. The team involved in DECISIF specializes in fluid circulation, mixing, and transport in hydrosystems.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. obtained within the last two years in fluid mechanics, hydrology, geosciences, or environmental sciences, with expertise in modeling hydrodynamics of porous media and groundwater. Good communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are essential.
