We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in the history of the performing arts , quantitative cultural history , or digital humanities to investigate how theatre programs – as archival documents and cultural artifacts – can serve as data for analysing artistic, institutional, and aesthetic developments in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The researcher will contribute to:

  • the constitution and analysis of a large corpus of performance programs from French and European institutions;
  • the development of quantitative and comparative approaches to performance historiography;

The position includes opportunities to co-author publications, present at international conferences, and contribute to the collaborative and interdisciplinary work environment of the STAGE project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply workflows for data cleaning, normalization, and statistical exploration
  • Design visualizations to support interpretation and dissemination of results
  • Collaborate with the research team on modelling and interpreting artistic and institutional trends
  • Contribute to scholarly publications and presentations in theatre studies and DH venues

  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g. Python, R, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of European theatre history (1945–today) is strongly desirable
