Nantes Université recherche un Postdoctorant pour le programme ERC « TranslAtWar » sur la traduction littéraire en période de guerre. The Faculty of Modern and Comparative Literature at Nantes Université invites applications for a temporary full-time position.
The candidate will joint the ERC Advanced Grant program « TranslAtWar » (Literary Translation at War – Mapping WW2 in Europe 1939-45) supervised by Pr. Christine Lombez and funded by the European Union.
For this call, we invite applicants to submit a proposal investigating the practice of literary translation in the Netherlands during the German Occupation (1940-1945), with a focus on translators, censorship, translation policies and dissemination strategies. Particularly welcome will be interdisciplinary profiles with a solid knowledge of history, cultural, translation and literary history of the period, in the Netherlands and beyond (the Flemish part of Belgium for instance).
A proficiency in Dutch as well asa good command of written and oral English is required for this position. A proficiency in French will also be appreciated.

PhD in comparative literature & / or European literature is mandatory
General, theoretical or disciplinary knowledge:
- Good knowledge of English and Dutch. A proficiency in French will also be appreciated
- Ability to synthesize large corpuses
- Writing skills

- Data collection experience
- Experience in digital databases
- Experience of archival work
Self management skills:
- Be able to work with a team / network
- Sense of initiative
- Responsiveness
- Ability to get involved in different working groups and work packages
Specific Requirements

Educational background and/or qualification: Training and/or PhD degree in Comparative Literature or European Literature. The candidate must also fit with the skills / qualifications listed above.
