The recruited person will join the "Physiological genomics of eukaryotes" team, led by Dr Pascal Barbry, involved in the international Human Cell Atlas consortium.
This PhD contract is part of the "RESPIRE-EXCEL" doctoral network, focusing on respiratory diseases such as Asthma and COPD, aiming to introduce precision medicine tailored to individual patients.
The PhD project aims to analyze early cellular events in the airways of patients with early-stage COPD, identify early markers and therapeutic targets. It will involve exploring unpublished single-cell atlas data from airway biopsies, spatial transcriptomics, and using in vitro/ex vivo models to study disease responses. The candidate will integrate these data with longitudinal patient data, gaining experience in wet lab techniques and computational biology.
A 6-month bioinformatics internship will be conducted at Helmholtz Center Munich, Germany.
Required skills include an MSc in cellular/molecular biology, development, genomics, or physiology. Experience in bioinformatics is appreciated but not mandatory.
